VIVOS Children Appliance

WHAT EVERY PARENT NEEDS TO KNOW

A survey of over 500 children revealed that 9 in 10 exhibited at least one condition associated with sleep disordered breathing. Yet few health care professionals are able to fully connect all of these symptoms to their common root cause – an undeveloped mouth and jaws and a constricted airway. Children who can’t breath and sleep properly can’t grow and learn properly.

The Vivos system for children promotes guided growth and development of the teeth, jaws, and airway. The Vivos system is a series of specially designed mouthpieces, worn in the evening and at night, that correct misaligned teeth and jaws. They immediately increase the oral volume and correct mouth breathing, both of which improve sleep.

Our goal is to guide the growth and development of children to allow for all 32 permanent teeth to correctly grow into place, with wide palates, broad smiles, straight teeth and properly developed airways in order to eliminate the adult epidemic of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

The Vivos appliance system improves the quality of life of a child, helps them develop properly, and allows for straight properly aligned teeth, jaws and a wide open airway. Give your child the chance they deserve to live a full and healthy life. Ask us about our Vivos appliance system today! 760-746-3663

Escondido dentist, Dr. Jeffry Kerbs, uses the Vivos DNA System which represents a breakthrough treatment proven to easily, painlessly, and naturally remodel, reposition, and redevelop the anatomy that surrounds the head and neck including the upper and lower jaw and airway. The Vivos DNA appliance is a FDA registered Biomimetic oral appliance, which harnesses the body’s natural ability for self-correction through gene environmental interactions by using developmental mechanisms that are encoded that the level of the human genome. The Vivos DNA appliance system aims to put the body back into it’s correct developmental path. This makes this system unique in upper airway, orthodontic and craniofacial correction. Unlike traditional braces, the Vivos DNA appliance is not worn all the time. The appliance is only worn in the early evening and all night while asleep.

The Vivos DNA System:

  • Restores and helps maintain proper symmetry and alignment
  • Promotes craniofacial and orthodontic correction
  • Gives a broader, wider smile with improved esthetics
  • A solution for crowded or crooked teeth, gummy smiles, narrow palates, TMD, sleep bruxism and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
  • Allows for higher quantity and quality of sleep
  • Can drastically reduce or even eliminate snoring
  • Promotes a more beautiful, symmetrical and attractive face “a DNA facelift”
  • Restore normal breathing and sleep patterns which improve overall health
  • Reduce or eliminate the need for other lifetime treatment options

The Vivos DNA appliance system has been clinically proven to treat and in some cases cure Obstructive Sleep Apnea, it does this through non-surgical remodeling of the upper airway. The biomimetic design of the Vivos DNA appliance results in more than just tooth movement. As the teeth move during treatment the bone structures within the face also change and grow. As the jaws grow into their fully developed form the rest of the facial structures are also signaled. This gives the face a better, more natural support system and may result in increased facial symmetry. Patients report improved overall facial esthetics, almost like a natural facelift without the pain or toxins associated with other cosmetic therapies.

Escondido dentist, Dr. Jeffry Kerbs, is a preferred provider for Invisalign and has been treating his patients with Invisalign for over 15 years. This experience with Invisalign allows Dr. Kerbs to take on a wide variety of cases, from simple cases with minor crowding of the teeth to more advanced cases with complex bite issues and crowding or spacing of the teeth. Dr. Kerbs wants his patients to know the effects of crowding and a misaligned bite on the overall health of the mouth.
Teeth move with age, they move towards the middle of the face and collapse toward the center of the mouth. This movement can cause the teeth to begin to bang together in a way that causes trauma to the teeth and bone. This trauma can cause chipping and breaking of the teeth, gum inflammation and bone loss, and eventual tooth loss.
The bite wants to function in a certain way, it wants to meet evenly on all of the teeth and have certain guidance points so that the teeth and muscles know where to go and how to function when eating. When the teeth and bite shift into a wrong position (malocclusion) then damage starts to occur to the teeth and surrounding structures like the gums, bone and muscles. This can lead to gingivitis, periodontitis, broken teeth, worn down teeth, mobile teeth, loss of teeth and in some cases severe TMJ and pain issues with the muscles and joints.
Dr. Kerbs has extensive training on how the bite should function. Dr. Kerbs analyzes the crowding, spacing, underbite, overbite, crossbite, chipping, wear facets, abfractions, recession, smile lines and facial muscles/TMJ before diagnosing and prescribing treatment. Dr. Kerbs’ extensive knowledge in traditional braces and Invisalign helps him to make the best treatment plan possible to achieve optimum health and function of the teeth and bite for long-term results. Once the teeth are properly aligned and functioning in a healthy bite, they are retained and protected so that the bite will stay healthy for life.
This video produced by Invisalign, is a great demonstration of how movement of the teeth into an improper biting position can cause trauma and damage to the teeth and surrounding bone and gums.

Dr. Kerbs and his team are passionate about health and prevention. We are here to answer all of your questions and help you move forward toward a healthy mouth for life. If you have noticed movement or shifting of your teeth and bite please give our Escondido Invisalign dental office a call 760-746-3663. Escondido Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Jeffry Kerbs has been practicing dentistry in San Diego County for the past 30 years and has been trained and certified in orthodontics for 25 years. Dr. Kerbs’ years of orthodontic experience makes him extremely knowledgable and qualified to place Invisalign. Most of us have seen the commercials for Invisalign on television, basically it involves a series of clear removable aligners that are changed out every two weeks until the desired result is achieved. Invisalign is such a great and easy way to straighten teeth without all of the metal and wires that traditional braces entail. The tricky part is the diagnosis, treatment planning, and prescription made by the doctor that determines the end result. It is in this (diagnosis, treatment planning, and the correct prescription) that sets Dr. Kerbs apart in getting the optimal Invisalign result: A BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY SMILE!

When patients first approach the idea of straightening crooked, spaced, or misaligned teeth, they have little idea of the many hidden benefits their new smile will bring! When teeth are ideally placed in the mouth it brings a multitude of benefits to one’s health and self-esteem, for instance:

  • less plaque and tater buildup on the teeth
  • healthier gums and therefore prevention of periodontitis
  • less stain collection
  • less food trapping/collection that can lead to cavities
  • well functioning bite
  • less TMJ problems
  • less grinding and clenching of the teeth
  • less tension in the jaw, head, and neck
  • more smiling!
  • a younger looking smile and face

Most patients have postponed their ideal smile because of the stigma and inconvenience of braces. With Invisalign, straightening teeth is virtually invisible! As one patient put it, “One day I looked in the mirror and my dream smile was looking back at me!” Invisalign allows Dr. Kerbs to align teeth and create the proper functioning bite and beautiful smile that his patients are looking for. We see great results with Invisalign every day!

If you or a loved one is looking to improve their smile, talk to Dr. Kerbs about the possibility of Invisalign and how it might benefit you, creating a healthy and beautiful result!

Invisalign is an incredible technology that has the ability to turn a crowded smile into a straight beautiful smile, all without the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces.

Dr. Kerbs has been treating his patients at his Escondido office with orthodontics (braces) for over twenty years and has been treating his patients with Invisalign for over ten years. He has a trained eye to evaluate your smile and perform the treatment needed to reach a beautiful cosmetic result.

We currently offer both options to our patients, traditional braces and Invisalign. With Dr. Kerbs expertise in the way teeth move he is able to take on most cases, even advanced cases, with Invisalign.

A straight, aligned smile can make a huge difference in your life. There are many health benefits as well as cosmetic benefits to having straight teeth, both are sure to impact your life.

Straightening teeth has many health benefits:

Crowded/Uneven teeth cause:

  • Buildup of plaque and tarter
  • Harboring of harmful periodontal bacteria
  • Risk of periodontal disease, tooth, and bone loss

Spacing/Gaps between the teeth cause:

  • Food lodging and packing between the teeth
  • Risk of sore and tender gums
  • Risk of periodontal disease

Deep Bite/Over Bite/Edge-to-Edge Bite/Mis-aligned Bite/ Mal-occlusion

  • Over-erupted lower front teeth damaging the palate
  • Wear and Chipping of the upper and lower front teeth
  • Shortened/Worn down front teeth
  • Mobile teeth
  • Periodontal Disease
  • Jaw/Joint pain

Straightening teeth has many cosmetic benefits:

  • Crowded teeth look uneven and have the ability to look old
  • Crowded teeth collect more stain and can look dark and dirty
  • Collapsed teeth have the ability to create shadows in the back areas of the mouth – sometimes making it look like teeth are missing
  • Collapsed teeth can make a smile look narrow
  • Spacing can be distracting

The health and cosmetic benefits of straightening your smile are huge. We have patients that have had a history of either heavy tarter buildup, stain, periodontal disease, mobile teeth, and/or jaw pain that now, with straight and aligned teeth, have eliminated these conditions. Time and time again we have patients tell us that they had no idea how a beautiful smile could impact their lives, take years off of their face, and ultimately be the best cosmetic procedure that they have ever done.

We are so pleased with our patients results after they have finished with their treatment with either braces or Invisalign. We see a huge difference in health and appearance, it’s truly amazing.

A straight, beautiful smile is a possibility!  It could significantly change your life by improving your health, function, and appearance. We are here to answer any questions that you may have and to guide you through the process of achieving a new beautiful smile. You can call us at our Escondido office any time: 760-746-3663.
